I had so much fun meeting fellow photog, Leslie and her sweet family. She, hubby, and lil boy "A" had no idea what gender their next little blessing would be so Leslie's sweet mom brought over a box full of color specific balloons for them.

What do you think it is?

I get to keep viewers in suspense because they haven't even revealed it to their family members yet. Boy, it's hard keeping a secret. I can't even tell you what color Leslie's pretty sash is...

Or what color this silly string is...

Hmm...you can take your guesses but either way, this family has lots of love and smiles!

Earning a Treat - Bismarck Children's Photographer

You can never tell if a child will be happy or grumpy or just uncomfortable during a session. It's a hard thing for their little selves to comprehend. Usually, the photographer is a stranger or at best, an acquaintance. The surroundings are not the usual for them either. And they are put in the spotlight for an hour! I have kiddos of my own so I am acutely aware of these difficult facts! :) And most of the time, with a little patience, I am able to get some good shots.

Occasionally, everything aligns just right and we get a really happy subject. That was true for this little girl! I couldn't believe how smiley and silly she was, even strutting around the path. This was my second session with her so maybe she remembered me and it helped, but man, she earned a special treat that evening!

Good girl, little R! I can't wait to meet your baby sister and see you all again soon!

Recent Sessions...

I have been a little MIA on the blog here lately! Sorry...you know how the holidays can be...exhausting, fun, yet relaxing! It seems to take me a bit longer to lug around my extra 5 lbs, too. :) I have had some sessions and absolutely LOVE doing them, but keeping up the blogging is definitely something that gets put on the back burner when I am busy. I saw a list of stats recently about the average cost and time photographers put into their business. It's so true. It's not just snapping some photos and editing (which by the way takes hours) but it's also taking care of your equipment, scouting locations, delivering/ordering goods, up-keeping of website/blog/facebook, returning calls and emails. AHH...why am I even typing this extra information? I need to get busy! :) I enjoy most of it (except this whole tax time thing) but it's very time consuming! I am so thankful for good clients that are willing to invest in me and especially thankful that this past year (my first), I've already had several repeat customers.

Down by the River - Bismarck Family Photographer

Last week was very busy! It was nonstop for me and I usually like it that way, but to be honest, toward the end of the week I was starting to get a little tired. I felt a wave of energy come over me when I met this lil guy though...

He was so sweet and happy! I'll admit, at first I don't think he liked me or at least my camera...yea that sounds better...he didn't like my camera. But it wasn't long, before he let me in, er, the camera in on his joy. He was throwing rocks into the river with reckless abandon. And finally threw in some sweet smiles.

How can you resist this?

He was pretty excited about having a baby sister on the way, too. When I asked him where she was, he ran up to mama and hugged that growing belly, dirty hands and all!
